Is Galapagos the Leading Beach Destination Worldwide?
Posted on 10/04/2017
The Galapagos Islands is one of the most exotic and unique archipelagos in the world. In fact, it is considered as the most important archipelago on earth.
Thus, it is not a surprise that nowadays it is nominated for being the Leading Beach Destination Worldwide by the recognized World Travel Awards (WTA) 2017. In fact, it was recently awarded as South America´s Leading Beach Destination.
Either for Ecuador or the Galapagos Islands, this global award can be the best stage for spreading the word of its uniqueness and for sharing the importance of good and controlled practices in tourism. Always on behalf to preserve fragile ecosystems.
One of the wonders of Galapagos is that every island is so unique both in wildlife and in landscapes. For instance, one island can be very rocky with lava fields, while the other shows a small cactus forest. On the other hand, the wildlife that can be found here is very rare.
Thus, there are some species that can be watched only in specific islands, i.e. the Flightless Cormorant. This is a unique species that had to evolve to be able to swim and hunt underwater for their food, so it swims instead of flying. The only place where travelers can watch it is in Isabela and Fernandina Islands.
There are many other hidden jewels in the 13 islands and six islets that formed the archipelago. The most common way for travelers to experience the beauties of the “Enchanted Islands” is by cruising. In fact, it can be the best way to do the journey.
Cruising the Galapagos Islands is an unforgettable experience with plenty of options for doing it. Even though there are almost 90 vessels authorized to navigate the islands, approximately 70-percent are small yachts. Indeed, small vessels are considered the best way to live the experience of cruising this unique archipelago.
One of the best options for experiencing the Galapagos is the Galapagos Sea Star Journey, recently awarded as Leading Boutique Cruise in South America by the WTA 2017. This small yacht hosts a maximum of 16 passengers, distributed in eight cabins, and a series of convenient facilities aboard that make the stay for guests a very memorable and pleasant experience.
Why are there so many small yachts? The main reason is because they offer a personalized service. The limited amount of travelers onboard allows guests to feel the warm and welcoming service of the local crew and the guide. It also allows them to interact with all the cruise mates.
Without a doubt, the Galapagos Islands have everything needed to be the World´s Leading Beach Destination.
